Waubonsee's Hesed House Program Receives Grant
Waubonsee Community College recently received a $20,000 City of Aurora Community Development Block Grant to help operate the Employment Skills Program, which is a collaboration between the college and Hesed House.
Housed at the Comprehensive Homeless Resource Center at 680 S. River St., the four-week program seeks to reduce homelessness through the teaching of career search skills, computer skills, and basic life skills such as time management, money management and communication. Individuals who complete the course receive direct assistance with job search activities in order to secure permanent employment.
Almost 250 people have completed the program since its launch in 2007.
