Waubonsee Hosts Discussion of Watson Computer

Waubonsee Community College will present “IBM Analytics and Watson” at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27 in room 120 of the Academic and Professional Center on the Sugar Grove Campus, Route 47 at Waubonsee Drive.

During this free event, IBM Academic Initiative Relationship Manager Valinda Kennedy will discuss Watson computer technology, which made headlines when it played “Jeopardy!” alongside human competitors. According to IBM’s website, “Cognitive systems like Watson may transform how organizations think, act, and operate in the future. Learning through interactions, they deliver evidence based responses driving better outcomes.”

Kennedy will also talk about the impact this technology is having on business strategies, marketing, health care and customer service.

The event is being sponsored by Waubonsee’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) scholarship program.
