Waubonsee to Host Veterans Week Activities

The award-winning documentary "Where Soldiers Come From" will be screened as part of Veterans Week activities.

Waubonsee Community College’s Veterans Club will host several events in the week leading up to the Veterans Day holiday. All events are free and open to the public and take place at the Sugar Grove Campus, Route 47 at Waubonsee Drive. 

On Tuesday, Nov. 6, Mariann Bacconiere, Suicide Prevention Coordinator at Hines VA Hospital, will discuss the issues veterans face as they transition back to college life. The discussion begins at noon in room 106 of the Student Center.

The award-winning documentary "Where Soldiers Come From" will be screened at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 7. Hailed by The Washington Post as “hauntingly beautiful and deeply felt,” the film tells the story of childhood friends forever changed by war.

Program Director of the Community Career Center Becky Brillon will conduct a workshop on “How to Complete a Federal Job Application” on Thursday, Nov. 8, from 1 to 3 p.m. in room 106 of the Student Center.
