Waubonsee Community College is currently exhibiting “Sun and Gravity,” a birdseed drawing by St. Louis artist Jessica Witte, through Oct. 12 in the window of Dickson Center on the Sugar Grove Campus, Route 47 at Waubonsee Drive. Viewing hours are 5:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., Monday through Friday; 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday; and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday.

Witte will visit the Sugar Grove Campus for a special artist’s talk at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 6. The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place in room 201 of Von Ohlen Hall.

Witte’s ephemeral “drawings,” created using birdseed, have been featured in the digital “Chicago Art Magazine.”

In her artist’s statement, Witte writes, “As some daily activities lapse into chaos or fade without our attention, the drawings serve as a reminder of a brief fixing of the transitory.”

Witte earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Nebraska - Kearney and a Master of Fine Arts degree from Northern Illinois University.
