Waubonsee's Dorsey Named NJCAA DII Player of the Week
Chiefs' 5'9" Guard Elevates His Game
Waubonsee Community College men’s basketball player Deontray Dorsey was named the NJCAA Division II Player of the Week for the week of December 5. The 5’9” guard turned in three consecutive outstanding performances during the week, averaging 26.3 points per contest, more than triple his 7.8 points per game average prior to that. Dorsey also averaged five rebounds, 5.3 assists and 3.3 steals while connecting on 12 of 16 free throw attempts over the Chiefs’ three games.
The Peoria Central High School graduate netted 32 points and three steals during 31 minutes of action in a 70-66 loss at Kishwaukee College on December 6. Two days later he put up 22 points, grabbed six rebounds, handed out 11 assists and swiped six steals in just 25 minutes of an 89-60 victory over the Aurora University Junior Varsity. The freshman then posted 25 points, including four treys, and snagged five rebounds and dished out five assists in a 92-84 loss to Illinois Valley Community College. As a result of his offensive outburst, Dorsey is now leading the Chiefs in scoring at 13.1 points per game.
