CLEP® Testing

If you truly excel in a particular subject or have professional experience in a certain field, you may want to check out the sample tests and study guides available at the College Board's CLEP® website. There are also study guides available at Waubonsee's Todd Library and bookstore.

The College Board offers several different CLEP® exams. The exams are administered by Learning Assessment and Testing Services at Waubonsee's Sugar Grove Campus.

CLEP® tests can only be taken by appointment. Prior to your appointment, you must visit the CLEP® website to create an account. CLEP® currently charges $93 per exam.

Registering for the CLEP® exam provides you with a payment receipt and an Admission Ticket. In addition, you must schedule an appointment with Learning Assessment and Testing Services Center at the Sugar Grove Campus. You may schedule an appointment online or call (630) 466-5700. Test takers for CLEP® are required to present one valid form of identification along with their Admission Ticket at their CLEP® appointment. A non-refundable fee of $25 will be charged by Waubonsee for each exam appointment.

No more than two CLEP® tests may be taken in one day. The maximum allowable number of credits earned by all Prior Learning Assessments, including CLEP®, is 45 credit hours. All funded military candidates must present a current military ID and a second form of government-issued photo ID.

When registering online for the CLEP® test, you will be asked where you would like your scores sent. You can then follow up with your college's registration department to make sure credit is recorded.

If you are attending Waubonsee, you should call Registration and Records at (630) 466-2370 two to three weeks after testing to see if your scores have been received. You will then have to visit the office to complete an Application for Credit by CLEP® form. A recording fee of $10 per transaction is charged.
