Program Entry Requirements

You must be at least 21 years of age or older. (If you are 18, you may register for class, but you will have limited job placement opportunities.)

You must have a good driving record and hold a valid Illinois driver’s license at the time of registration.

You must meet the physical requirements of the Department of Transportation (DOT) for Truck Drivers. You must pass a DOT drug screen and physical before coming to class. You will receive information about obtaining these at your orientation meeting.

You must be able to read and write English.

You must provide your Driving Record Abstract. This can be obtained for a fee at any Illinois Secretary of State Drivers Facility or visit CyberDriveIllinois for more information.

If you wish to add the Hazardous Materials Endorsement to your CDL you must complete an application, background check and fingerprint scan following the regulations of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). Information about obtaining this endorsement can be found through the Illinois Secretary of State's Hazardous Materials Endorsement site.

You must attend an orientation meeting with the coordinator of Waubonsee’s Truck Driving Training Program to review these requirements.
