Translation

Translators are bilingual individuals who translate written documents from one language to another. Qualified translators provide a valuable service in a very specialized profession.

Waubonsee offers a Certificate of Achievement in Translation for bilingual students fluent in both Spanish and English. This 8-semester-hour program is an introduction to the  profession and offers a quick entry into the field of translation. Translation courses are offered at the Aurora Campus  and online.

A Growing Field
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, "Employment of interpreters and translators is projected to increase 22 percent over the 2008-18 decade, which is much faster than the average for all occupations." Many translators are employed by agencies and maintain a freelance business.

Admission Requirements
