CPT Coding (HIT 215)

3.0 Semester Hours

This course provides an introduction to the guidelines, rules and terms for the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and the Center for Medicare/Medicaid Services' Health Care Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) classification systems and the application of those rules to coding patient services. A major focus of the course is to prepare the students to correctly code using the CPT manual. Repeatable to a maximum of 12 semester hours; 3 semester hours may apply to a degree or certificate.

Recommended Prereq: HIT110. Prereq: HIT100; HIT220.
