Whether you plan to work in public accounting, within a government agency, for a multinational company, with a non-profit organization or for a small business, Waubonsee has a program suited just for you! Accounting graduates are in high demand; according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment within the accounting field is expected to grow faster than average.
At Waubonsee you will earn college credit and gain the hands-on experience vital to being competitive in the accounting field. You'll learn from credentialed instructors with real world knowledge and years of invaluable experience, all while utilizing the latest accounting techniques, software and applications.
You can put these techniques into practice by participating in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, which Waubonsee has been involved with since 2005. Through the VITA program, Waubonsee students prepare taxes for low to moderate income families — helping the community while learning valuable "real world" tax accounting skills. Students are also encouraged to pursue an accounting internship to gain both college credit and on-the-job experience.
Waubonsee inducts high-achieving students into its chapter of the the Alpha Beta Gamma International Business Honor Society. Students are also welcome to join the Waubonsee Business Club, which provides members with opportunities to gain a better understanding of the business world and provide service to the community.
