Becoming a certified nurse assistant (CNA) is the fastest way to enter the health care field -- the academic program is just one 7-credit course. But while nursing assistant jobs are entry-level, they are also demanding and require someone with a very caring personality. You have to really enjoy helping and caring for people, as that's what you'll be doing every day as you bathe, dress and feed patients in hospitals, nursing homes or for home health agencies.
Assisting Your Career
Many students will enroll in the CNA course while waiting to enter the college's registered nursing program. The skills and experience you gain as a CNA will help you whether you want to move on to become a nurse, phlebotomy technician or medical assistant.
