Exercise Science

Exercise is usually thought of as a leisure activity -- something you have to find time for either before or after work. But in today's market, it can also be a career, and you can prepare for it at Waubonsee.

Exercise science is a growing field in Illinois. In fact, fitness trainers/aerobics instructors currently rank fifth on the Illinois Department of Employment Security's list of occupations with the most annual job openings that require vocational training after high school.

Waubonsee's program offers the chance to gain hands-on experience and earn national certification in the fitness field -- all without leaving the college's Sugar Grove Campus. Students can complete their required internship at the college's Fitness Center. Plus, the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) certification exams are administered on campus as students near the end of their coursework.
