Volleyball Coaching Staff

Caitlin Gustin, Head Coach

Caitlin Gustin takes over the Lady Chiefs program this season, bringing a plethora of knowledge and energy to Waubonsee’s revitalized program. Gustin has extensive coaching experience at the club volleyball level, especially in her native Oregon.

Gustin graduated in 2001 from Canby (OR) High School, where she played varsity volleyball for three years, basketball for two and participated in track all four years. She helped the Cougars win back-to-back league titles in 1998 and 1999 before earning All-Conference as middle blocker/outside hitter her senior year. However, an injury prevented her from continuing her playing career at the collegiate level.

Gustin began coaching at the club volleyball level in 2003, leading the Canby Volleyball Club 16U and 18U teams for five seasons. She earned Coach of the Year honors in 2005, and later served as the varsity assistant at Sherwood (OR) High School in 2008 where she was a Physical Education teacher for two years. Gustin also headed up the Athena Volleyball Club’s 14U squad based in Beaverton, Oregon for two seasons. She currently is in her third season coaching for the UNO Volleyball Club in Joliet, where she helped guide the 17U team to a berth in the National Championships in Atlanta last spring.

Coach Gustin earned a B.S. in Community Health from Portland (OR) State University in 2007, and a M.A.T. in teaching from Concordia University (OR) in 2008. Gustin currently teaches Health and Wellness courses at Waubonsee, and lives in St. Charles with her husband Jean-Luc.

Mandy Piscitelli, Assistant Coach

The 2011 season is Mandy Piscitelli’s seventh year as part of the Waubonsee coaching staff. She spent the last three years as head coach, culminating in last year’s tremendous turnaround (22-16) from the previous season (8-29), and second place finish in the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference. A former Chiefs’ standout student/athlete, Piscitelli returns this year to the role of assistant coach. She will undoubtedly continue to bring a wealth of knowledge, experience and a competitive drive to the Waubonsee sidelines.

Coach Piscitelli is a 1999 graduate of nearby Kaneland High School, where she was a three-sport athlete. Piscitelli excelled athletically for the Knights playing volleyball, basketball and softball during her prep career. As a senior, she earned All-Conference and All-Area honors on the volleyball court while being named All-Conference on the softball diamond as well.

Piscitelli enjoyed similar success at Waubonsee while playing volleyball, basketball and softball for the Lady Chiefs during the 1999-2000 and 2000-2001 seasons. She was named Waubonsee’s Female Athlete of the Year at the conclusion of her sophomore year. Off the court and diamond, Piscitelli also earned Academic All-Skyway honors her sophomore season.

Coach Piscitelli received an associate degree in social science from Waubonsee in 2002. She earned a bachelor's degree in physical education with a minor in health education from Northern Illinois University in 2006. Piscitelli is currently teaching at Ira Jones Middle School in Plainfield.
