Women's Basketball at Waubonsee
Competing each winter – late fall through early spring semester – the Waubonsee Chiefs Women's Basketball Team takes to the court for a new season.
In conjunction with the college's Communication Department, select games are televised locally on Waubonsee's cable channel.
Jim Sury took over the Chiefs' program last season from long time head coach Dana Wagner and guided the team to the program's first ever berth in the NJCAA National Tournament. The unranked and unheralded Chiefs grabbed the Region IV Division II District K title for the first time ever and finished 11th in the nation at the national tournament in Kansas City. In 2014, Wagner's last at the helm, Waubonsee captured the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference title for the first time since 1993, going undefeated (14-0) in league play for the first time ever. Wagner's crew reached the Region IV Division II District K championship game for the first time in school history, finishing as the runner up and ending the season 25-7 overall to shatter the school record for wins in a season. Along the way they also established a new school record for consecutive wins when they reeled off 13 straight victories late in the season. Additionally the Chiefs were ranked for the first time ever as they were tabbed 23rd nationally in the final regular season NJCAA Division II poll.
Waubonsee also offers Men's Basketball.
