Medical

The college provides a Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO medical plan for the employee after an initial 60-day waiting period at no cost to the employee. The employee may elect family coverage and will be required to contribute a percentage toward dependent coverage. Premiums vary depending on the level of family coverage selected.

Dental

The college provides dental insurance for the employee after an initial 60-day waiting period at no cost to the employee. The employee may elect coverage for spouse and/or children and will be required to pay the full premium cost. Dental insurance is effective the first day of the month following the 60th day of employment. If enrollment does not occur when initially eligible, there is a 365-day waiting period during which only preventative dental services are covered.

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)

The college provides an IRS Section 125 Flexible Spending Account (FSA). The plan allows for pre-tax deductions by full-time employees for the purpose of paying health insurance premiums and unreimbursed medical, dental, hearing, vision and dependent daycare expenses as per IRS limitations. The employee is eligible to participate in the plan the 1st of the month following the 60th day of employment.

Term Life

The college provides $45,000 of term life insurance coverage and double indemnity coverage for the employee at no cost in case of accidental death and dismemberment.

Paid Time Off

Includes vacation, personal leave, sick leave and paid holidays. Accrual schedules vary depending on the employee's length of employment.

State Universities Retirement System (SURS)

The college participates in SURS and all employees, except student workers and those employees that are considered temporary or intermittent, are required to contribute 8 percent of their gross pay. This contribution is a pre-tax deduction. The employer contribution is paid by the state of Illinois. Employees who contribute to SURS do not contribute to the Federal Social Security Program (FICA). Tax Sheltered Annuity Program (403B)


The college provides all employees the opportunity to participate in a Tax Sheltered Annuity Program. The college has pre-approved companies from which employees can choose a tax deferred investment plan. The college does not contribute to these accounts.

Employee Assistance Plan (EAP)

The college provides access to an EAP for employees and their eligible dependents. The BalanceWorks program, an integrated employee assistance and work/life program, provides the employee and eligible family members with access to free confidential assistance with everyday work and family issues as well as more challenging personal concerns.

The BalanceWorks program includes:

  • Immediate connection to a counselor 24/7
  • Legal consultation and referral
  • Financial consultation and referral
  • Online resources
  • Child and elder care resource/referral services
  • A personal assistant to help with individual requests on a variety of topics or concerns

Tuition Reimbursement

The college will reimburse a set amount per fiscal year toward tuition, fees, and required textbooks/materials for pre-approved courses at other educational institutions, if a grade of "C" or higher is earned.The college will reimburse tuition for credit courses taken at Waubonsee for employee, spouse and eligible dependents, if a grade of "C" or higher is earned. There is a limit of 6 credits per semester for employees. There is no limit on credits for spouse and dependent children.

Direct Deposit

Waubonsee employees are offered flexibility with direct deposit and may divide their paycheck among multiple accounts.
