CAREER CLASSES

PDV 131 Strategies for Career Exploration (1 semester hour)
A career exploration course designed to help people make career decisions based on in-depth personal assessment including career interests, personality type and values inventories.

PDV 136 Employment Strategies (1 semester hour)
A career course designed to help students with the job-search process. Students have the opportunity to review career literature and self-assessment techniques, write a resume and practice interviewing skills. Students also have the opportunity to learn and practice job-seeking skills.

PDV 140 Challenge and Change in Career/Life Planning (3 semester hours)
A personal growth course that assists students in the career selection process. Topics include re-examining value systems and choice of lifestyles, decision-making, risk-taking behaviors, career resources and job-seeking skills.

CAREER ASSESSMENT AND RESOURCES

The Counseling Department at Waubonsee Community College is staffed with trained and caring counselors who can assist those who are in the career exploration process with interpretation of assessments as well as guidance in choosing appropriate majors and occupations. Or perhaps what is needed is simply to begin to talk about the future, and bounce around a few ideas. The Counseling Department is a great place to start!
