Career Exploration Workshops
Sponsored by the Waubonsee Counseling Centers, these workshops involve self-directed-search (SDS) assessment, group discussion and activities facilitated by Waubonsee Counselors.
Choosing A Major
This two hour workshop focuses on group discussion, activities and self-assessment to help individuals match their interests and educational goals with possible majors.
Audience: Traditional-aged college students and prospective students

This workshop includes activities and assessments designed to assist those looking to re-enter the workforce and/or change careers.

Job Club
Waubonsee's Job Club offers career-focused workshops on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at 2 p.m. in Student Center, Room 106. Attend as many sessions as you wish (at no charge). Oct. 12 - Seeking Help During a Period of Unemployment
Tips for saving money and getting additional resources while you look for work.
Oct. 26 - Researching Employers
Learn how to gather information about prospective employers before sending your résumé or going to an interview.
Nov. 9 - Optimizing Your Work History
Learn to highlight skills and experience pulled from an imperfect work history to create an amazing résumé and a few key talking points.
Nov. 23 - Networking 101
Learn the basics of networking including introductions, elevator speeches and follow ups. Come prepared to practice!

Out of work and collecting unemployment?
Established by the Waubonsee Community College Foundation, these scholarships provide up to $500 toward the cost of Workforce Development courses at the college. These short, focused courses are intended to provide students with relevant skills they can utilize right away in a variety of industries such as computers, health care, manufacturing and small business.

If you’re trying to decide on the right career field to get into, Counseling is a great place to start. The Center offers many career planning tools such as career inventories and workshops.
Career Services
If you’re looking for a job, chances are you could benefit from the resources offered by the Career Services Center. Here you’ll be able to locate job listings in your field and then get help with your cover letter, resume and interviewing skills.
Workforce Development
This department can help you move up in your career field or enter a new one quickly by providing short, highly-focused courses and programs in everything from computers to truck driving.
Community Education
Many of Community Education's lifelong learning classes deal with current issues and emerging trends, including ways to cope with the current economy.
Adult Education
If you are at least 16 years of age and not currently enrolled in school but looking to improve your life, Adult Education can help. We offer courses and programs that will help you improve your basic skills; prepare for the high school equivalency exam (GED); learn to speak, read, and write the English language; and obtain the basic skills needed to move to a new or better job or to higher education.
