Duffy Turner
Women’s Tennis Coach

Duffy Turner immediately made an impact on Waubonsee’s program after taking over in the spring of 2005. She helped guide the doubles team of Laura Olson and Ashley Cooper to the consolation semi-finals at the NJCAA Division I National Tournament. She followed that up by leading Waubonsee to an Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference title and the program’s first-ever team appearance at the NJCAA Finals, where they placed 21st overall. Last fall Turner steered the Lady Chiefs to their third consecutive Skyway crown, then capped off the year by winning the Region IV title before earning another top-25 finish at the Nationals in Tucson, Arizona.

Coach Turner is a United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) certified tennis professional. The USPTA also tabbed her as its’ Developmental Coach of the Year for Illinois in 2004. Additionally, she has captained numerous United States Tennis Association (USTA) teams and has achieved a level one certification in Sports Science from the USTA. Serving and volleying more than tennis balls, Turner performs as the Secretary of the Board for the Northern Illinois Tennis Association. She is also involved with the tools of her trade, acting as a staff advisor for the HEAD/PENN tennis brand. Additionally, in 2006 Coach Turner guided a team of 18-year-olds to the Wightman Cup, a Midwest ranked junior girl’s team tournament at Ball State University.

Turner graduated from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. She currently teaches tennis full-time at the Norris Center in St. Charles. Turner has previously taught tennis at Rush-Copley Healthplex in Aurora and for the Batavia Park District, while also still playing competitively in adult leagues. Away from the tennis court, Turner and her three children, Zachary, Davis and Ashlyn reside in Batavia.
