The Sugar Grove Campus was acquired in 1968 for the purpose of establishing a permanent campus. Prior to the property’s acquisition by Waubonsee Community College, the Huntoon Stables horse farm occupied the grounds. The old show barn housed the administrative offices from August to September of 1969 until Building A was completed. At that point, the show barn was converted to a 16,000-square-foot technology center. The rest of the campus was temporary buildings, which have since been replaced by permanent structures. The lake near Collins Hall was named Huntoon Lake in June 1978 to honor the origins of the campus.
The Sugar Grove Campus has many buildings and is further subdivided to reflect this.
